I, myself, prefer classic rock. To me, the lyrics from Aerosmith (and others) are deeper than My Chemical Romance (and others). The majority of modern, to me, is either emo, screamo, or just downright scary (but yes, there are a lot of good ones too)! Just my opinion, what's yours?

classic rock back in the days those songs were written off real experiences and emotions and life these days half of your bands dont even really know what they are singing or screaming about and alot of them dont even know where to begin to respect stevey ray vaughn or lenard that was real music some of the new stuff is ok but cant replace CLASSIC ROCK thats what it has all evolved from in the first place

I can listen to modern or classic rock. Bands such as Aerosmith, KISS, and the like are still competing with the music of today. Take a look at "God Of Thunder" which is still very much a hit in it's own right, or "Walk This Way" a song that still holds a candle to modern rock (quite frankly, it puts MOST modern rock to shame). On the other hand, modern bands like Godsmack, Sevendust and Dropbox are very much influenced by classic genre and are able to put down some killer tracks without being emo or screamo like the other far less worthy bands of this generation.

I prefer techno.
especially Drum N Bass...
There's some "rock" music I will listen too. About the only band I like is Phish
music doesn't seem as good today as when I was younger.

Smashing Pumpkins
Blur
Korn (back in the day, their new stuff is crap)
I could go on about all the great bands of my childhood.
Although if you wanna talk classic rock, from the like 60's and 70's well music now a days lacks talent.

I like new rock better. Classic rock sounds dated to me and I like the sound of new rock. Yes, there is SOME new rock that is emo/screamo, but it isn't neccissarily a bad thing either. Lots of the lyrics are still deep and meaningful. And there are TONS of bands that aren't emo/screamo. And the new music is about modern issues and things.

Classic Rock, I love the lyrics and the music, it was much more original. I do like a lot of modern rock, but its nothing like the music from the 60s.
