everthing worked until i had to replace my heatsink bracket. It is a sony computer with a socket 478 processor. It has integrated video but that wasnt working after i put evrything back together so i tried installing an agp card and it still doesnt work. It is just a black screen like before. What in the world! I also had myself grounded by touching the case.

Try these:
1. Reseat cpu fan connector.
2. Inspect heatsink to be sure it properly contacts cpu heatspreader. Heatsink should not touch any other electronic component.
3. Test PC using bare minimum set up and w/ motherboard unscrewed from its mounting. It must not touch any metal part of the case. Detach FDD, HDD, and CD drive. This set up should post and be able to open BIOS menu. If PC displays BIOS menu, load failsafe defaults, save and exit. Reattach devices one at a time (HDD first) then test.

If PC won't work with bare minimum set up but power supply fan is spinning, motherboard could be dead.

Look back over all the connections carefully and make sure you didn't miss anything. If you forgot to connect the 12v p4 connector you would have this problem. In fact many things could be causing it.

Do you have your pc speaker hooked up? if so you might get a beep code. The beep codes generally will tell you there is a problem with either the video or ram.

Make sure all the expansion cards are seated properly if you have any. Might want to try reseating the memory. Make sure nothing is shorting the motherboard, if you lost a screw and it is touching the motherboard you will get this as well.

You mentioned something about a heat sink bracket, which im not sure what you are referring to exactly but if your CPU is overheating you will also not get a picture, so make sure everything is in order in that department as well.
