Only by buying them, or by becoming a REALLY popular developer.
IMVU isn't a game, its a chat program; there are no cheats or secrets. And since IMVU, the company, wants to make money the credits are set to decline, not expand. Since IMVU takes 150 credits out of every sale and an additional 10%, the IMVU economy requires bought credits to stay afloat. (That isn't even thinking about the dev credits.)

Try to look at the New items in the catalog every day. It's only 50 credits a time (I think), but over a few weeks, that does mount up to something decent.
