when I measured my pumpkin 2 days ago it was about 13 inches long and 7and1/2 inches wide. Is it big enough that it will stop growing and ripen yet?

I live in utah, and I bought the giant pumpkin variety, the card says 5-100 pounds, I didn't compost it or anything I am hoping that it won't grow to be 100 pounds.

You can leave your pumpkin on the vine for as long as you like provided it is not fully hardened yet. Wait until it turns bright orange and hardens up; this can take a few weeks. After that, you can keep it is storage as they are great keepers; as long as it has plenty of air circulation around it.

Depends on what size you want it to be and what you want to use it for. It also depends on what type it is, some grow larger than others (think about those cute tiny ones at the store -- and also the GIANT ones you see around at the fairs and stuff.)

It also depends on where you live, because the climate is different everywhere...but where I live, we always leave the pumpkins on the vine until at least the first frost, which begins to kill the leaves. Then the pumpkins actually are pretty much ready to be picked and used for whatever use you want them for. This is also why they are so good for Halloween and Thanksgiving, because they do last well into the fall.

But like I said, it depends on where you live, because I know a lot of places it doesn't even freeze, or at least not until a lot later in winter.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but not knowing where you are, it is hard to say...

Leave it alone and let it continue to grow until it is pumpkin orange. It should grow much bigger--but---of course that depends on the type of pumpkin it is.

Depending where you live, you need to wait until the first frost and then you can pick it. In the Northeast, this could be late Septemer or early October.

Relax, Enjoy and watch it grow !!

Basically you can pick it whenever you like if you are going to use it as an ornamental. If you plan to cook with it then wait for it to ripen and that is pretty much when it turns orange and is of average size.

All depends on how rich the soil is. Pumpkins can grow to be so huge you can't lift them without a forklift.

you need to leave pumpkins on the vine until after the 1st frost...never pick it expecting it to ripen...it won't happen...it will rot though...once the frost hits, it will be ready and will stop growing...
