have let left-wing kooks "hijack" their party just as moderate Muslims have let extremists "hijack" their religion? Do you feel as I do that conservatives are only strong enough to keep their convictions without letting something or somebody "hijack" our principles?

It's a great question..
Our enemies are emboldened by the constant liberal media reports of a divided US.

Way to go libs, this one is squarely your fault!

Don't they know that Islam is the most anti-freedom, anti-womens rights, anti-human rights, anti-democracy religion on the planet?

Traditionally liberalism opposses ALL OF THAT.

Liberals, do you realize that you are selling out EVERY ONE of your core beliefs when you side with countries like Iran?

Do you really hate Bush that badly that you would sell out your beliefs to Islam?????

Apparently so.

that is interesting. as i think about it, i think that moderates whatever their stance, do not agree with those that do 'high-jack' their beliefs.

the extremist get the lion's share of publicity for they are the most outrages and most outspoken but i think or at least hope that when all is said and done, like a big wind or tornado here where i live, they will blow in , blow up and then be gone...here we have advanced warning systems to alert us and prepare for it so keep damage minimal.

the terrorist have been very verbal about their intent and we are foolish not to heed their advance warning and take steps to protect ourselves.

the main issue is see with some liberals is that they deny this is even a real issue and concentrate on Iraq. it is far larger than Iraq and has been going on longer and will go on when we do leave Iraq. this war' is unprecedented in history as it is between a clash of civilizations..the 7th century mind set opposing the 21st. it will require new methods and tools.

my hope is that the moderates of all these fractions will finally say 'enough' and refuse to be high-jacked.

It's obvious when you see all the Democrat candidates going to speak at the convention for the daily kooks that their party has been hijacked. I can't imagine old school Dems ever going to pander to that hate mongoring group of Socialists.

Why the heck are you asking the conservatives?

YES!

I'm not a socialist, I don't hate republicans, so I'm not a political bigot, and I love my country.

I may not agree with you on all our goals, but I don't stupidly oppose and disagree with EVERYTHING the republicans say just because they are republicans!

We have different goals, different focuses. I'm darned happy I don't have to deal with the details of taking our great country to war. That's your job.

I focus on other things.

I'm brakes when you go too far.

You're brakes when I go too far.

Read the section about "split" in Wikipedia under "Socialist Party of America" and see who took over my party (the Democratic Party, that is).

It's public record.

A whole lot of us are getting darned tired of it. The rest didn't have the backbone to stay and fight for the party, instead using the excuse, "the party left me".

Wrong. You left the party to those who have turned it into what it is today.

As long as someone like Lieberman runs, I'll stay a Democrat. When it's all socialists, I go independent.

You don't think GWB and his administration has hijacked the conservative principles. I'm going to pour you a drink and let you think about that for a while.

Really - you haven't let anybody "hijack" your principles? What the hell happened to being keen on fiscal conservancy and smaller government?

I seem to remember that the only president in recent history to not only balance the budget AND create a surplus AND reduce government bureaucracy was President Clinton... weird.
