OK, well, definitely meeting all the sisters (August, May, June) in the pink honey house broadens her perspectives of black women. Up to this point, the only black people she has met have been servants for white people in her neighborhood. Meeting the sisters helps her to better understand her maid.

Also, the young black boy she meets, the one who wants to be a lawyer, shows her that love knows no color.

The sisters also help her discover her own beauty and strength by showing her what honey can do for her hair and complexion, showing her the Mary in chains, and also by teaching her how to not be afraid of the bees and get their honey.

honestly it's a great book! so buying wouldnt be too bad...you can find it at target for around $12! Good Luck!
