It should, depending on your company's policy. A miscarriage could be described as not only loss of a person, but medical condition, esp. if you were further along or had to have a D&C.

A year ago I had to have a d&c because I had a missed miscarriage. My work gave me the time off for bereavement leave. I guess it depends on your workplace.

It depends on where you work. At my husband's work it is, but he's also a supervisor and has a bit of control. At my work it isn't because I can't prove anything--I need to bring the funeral program to make it a bereavement leave.

every company has different guidlines and rules. your company should have some sort of "handbook" or employee contract document that spell out what your company will accept as bereavement and other types of leaves. if you work for a union company then there should definitely be some literature somewhere that will clarify everything for you.

It certainly should. And if you have trouble convincing them, ask your doctor to write you a note excusing you from work for a few days because of the medical condition (miscarriage).

Yes for a grandfather is considered part of the immediate family. So they should give you sometime off to go to the funeral.

its not a "free day" as my wife is going through one they are painful, graphic, and a mental burden on both parents.
