I have just bought a new linksys router to extend my coverage and connected it to my d-link router. When I called tech support, he set me up with two different names and password for each router(i.e. D-Link is Net1 and Linksys is Net2 - each with diff passcodes.) Is it possible for these two to run together on just one name and password? This would make one connection overall, rather me having to switch back and forth from each connection each time I move into another room.

Also, when I have the same name and/or passcode, they seem to interfere with each other and the internet won't work

you bought the wrong devices.

linksys router will replace your dlink. put the dlink on ebay.

return the second linksys and get a linksys AP not a router just and AP.

that will have the same WEP account. you can either just run a wire to it and then it will rebroadcast from there.. or you can have it receive the wireless signal and turn it into a wired connection... and you can have it just rebroadcast the signal it picks up from the other router. (bridge mode)

thats the best way.. thats the way we have our Complex wired up. (cisco not linksys but same idea.. one router and all AP's)

No i think your thinking of a repeater or extender to extend the coverage. if you set to access points up with the same SSID it will just cause interference. As for the logons they can be the same. thats just for accessing the configuration

Yes, you can change the passwords in the router configuration.
