No your mom ABSOLUTLY does not have to stay in the room with you! And even though you are only 15, they are not allowed to tell your mom anything. It's really not that big of a deal it will be over in like 5 min. They just swipe your insides and your done... Its a lil uncomfertable, but not as nearly as a big of a deal as you would think! Good luck :)

No, your mom does not have to stay in the room with you if you do not want to. There should always be a doctor and a nurse present.....or a nurse practitioner and a nurse. The exam will probably take a whole 10 minutes once you get to see the doctor. Since it is your first exam, make sure you talk with your doctor first to get to know her/him. They will probably first take your weight, blood pressure etc. You will also have to know the first day of your last period.

Initially, the nurse will give you a gown that you will have to wear. Yes, you have to take everything off...except socks. It is always difficult to determine which way the gowns go....so don't be shy and ask the nurse before she leaves the room. They will always do a breast exam.
If you have a good doctor he/she will always talk you through the exam, particularly at your age. First, the doctor will ask you to scoot down on the examination table where you are supposed to put your heels in the stirrups of the table. The doctor will take what is called a speculum, and insert it into your vagina. It doesn't hurt at all but it may feel weird. It is just for the doctor to better see your cervix. More than likely the doctor will probe about your sexual history, asking questions etc. Tell your doctor the truth. The more they know the better they will be able to track medical issues. More than likely they will do a pap test. He will insert a tiny brush and take cells from your cervix....again it may feel strange. However do not be completely freaked out if your doctor checks your bowels....it is normal, it is also a better way to palpate your ovaries. However, because of your age, I doubt your doctor will.
That is about it....not too big of a deal really.

Tell your mother that you would like to have the exam done while she waits in the waiting room. The doctor will have you undress. He/She will give you a robe/sheet to cover up with. Let the doctor know that you would like him/her to explain step by step what they are doing. For example: put your feet in the stir-ups, bring your rear end to the end of the table, open your legs / knees out, and relax. The exam takes about 2 minutes!!! He/She will insert either a metal or plastic speculum (instrument) and then take a swab (q-tip). You'll feel a little uncomfortable but nothing that you can not handle. Just breathe, get it over with, and move on. You'll need to have an exam once a year to get a refill on birth control. Let the doctor know if you are a virgin as the exam may differ. The doctor may also do a breast exam. You lay flat on your back, put your arms above your head, and he/she feels your breasts for lumps. You'll have a nurse in the room while all of this takes place. Take your pill daily at the same time every day. I take mine every morning when I brush my teeth....thus, I never forget. It only works if you take it every day at around the same time. Remind the doctor and nurse that you are very young and this is your first visit. Tell them you are very nervous. They will take good care of you. Speak UP, they can not read your mind.

OK, wow, your first pelvic exam! Well, I'm not going to lie to you- it's not pleasant. Especially if you're a virgin, which I'm hoping you are because you're 15. Anyway, NO, your mom does not need to be in the room. You'll be more comfortable if she leaves, because you're going to be sort of "exposed." Here's what happens:
The nurse takes your vitals (height, weight, blood pressure, etc.) and then hands you a hospital gown looking thing to put on and puts you in a room. You have to take off all your clothes and put on the gown thing, then hop up on the table. When the doc comes in, she will do some preliminary things like listen to your heart rate and also she will check your breasts for lumps and things by touching them. Don't feel weird-she's a doctor. Then she'll have you lie down on the table, scoot way to the end and put your feet up in those metal things called stirrups. Now, this part is a little embarrassing, but just keep remembering she's a doctor, and it's OK. She will then insert a thing called a speculum into you to kind of keep it open-that's the part that's going to hurt if you're not used to, um, things going in there. But she'll be as quick as possible-she just has to examine all your bits and make sure you're healthy. She may also do a Pap smear, which is just a quick swipe of a little Q-tip looking thing, like a throat culture except that ain't your throat! The Pap smear looks for abnormal cervical cells which could indicate cervical cancer. It's good to get one done every year, and they'll make you get one every time you need your birth control prescription refilled. Be sure to ask her about anything you want to ask her while you're there. I like to make a little list of things I am concerned about, or just things I'm curious about, so I can be reminded to ask while I'm there. It's all part of being a woman, hon. Celebrate it!

You will get a pap smear. Your mom can wait out in the waiting room upon your request, just tell her you feel funny about it.
If you are not a virgin, they can't disclose that information to your mother. If you are pregnant you can request that they keep this to themselves as well, but it doesn't sound to me like this is a problem.
You are asked to put on a gown, you have to take everything else off. Then they do a breast exam, check your heart and so on (a physical exam) then you have to lay back and put your feet in stirrups with your legs open, they put a metal or plastic speculum inside of you and use a large Q-Tip to get a sample of your cervical mucous to test for and abnormalities. It's not a comfortable situation, but it's nothing horrific, just breathe normal and don't tense up, it makes it worse. You may spot afterward if it's your first pap, and you may cramp a little, but you will be okay. Take ibuprophen when you get home.

in a normal exam they use a q-tip and swab the inside of you. they just want to make sure that you dont have any cervical cancer or stds or anything. its no big deal at all. it only takes a few seconds. the doctor will probably also use their fingers to feel around to make sure all of your parts are normal. this doesn't hurt at all and theres no need to be worried. you probably do not want your mom in the room... that might make it uncomfortable for you....depending on your relationship and the closeness you have with your mom. ask the doctor to explain what they are going to do before starting the exam.

It depends on when you got your last check-up. You will get a blood pressure test, weight and height logged into your chart, and if you have not done a pap smear yet its a good idea. and some doctors also do a urine test and if you have not done a blood test yet its a good idea too!
It is better to have your mom wait outside but ask to have the nurse there too with the doctor in case especially if he is a boy doctor. you way too pretty to be alone in there!

They make you undress from the waist down, put a plastic (or metal) speculum (looks like a birds beak but bigger) inside (ykw) and look. they use a couple long q-tips and swab your insides for culture that they check for infections and cancer and stuff. Your mom can stay but don't do that. She won't be with you all the time so use this time to get used to it. Ask for female doctor. They are gentle. it's about 10 minutes tops.
