yes they are very nice

i would get

intel core 2 duo 1.66GHz
1GB RAM
120GB HD
basic viseo card

that will put u around $800

it is decent but i would upgrade the processor, video card and ram if she is going to use it for games and videos/pictures

they also come with a 1 year warrenty

I bought an Inspiron E1705 last year with quite a few upgrades. It has been an EXCELLENT computer. Granted, I paid $1367.00 for it, but, it was worth it. You can look at the refurbished laptops on Dell for one. Just remember to try and get the highest processor speed and RAM that you can afford. Mine is 2.0 GHz and 1 GB RAM. I also got a 100 GB hard drive @ 7200 rpm instead of the 5400 rpm. (I probably should have stayed with the 5400 rpm however.) Difference in the two is negligible but the 7200 rpm uses A LOT of battery in comparison.

Hope it helps!!

Yes, Dells are a good computer. You might also check into Toshiba www.toshiba.com and HP www.hp.com

My strongest advice is to get a PC -- don't ever waste your $$ buying an Apple because you'll find it won't do nearly as much as a PC unless you install Windows...at which point you're using a PC that you simply ended up paying magnitudes more for. Go figure.

you may already have 4 gig in it. A 32 bit working sytem will tutor between 3 and 3.5 gb once you have 4 put in. It sounds weird and wonderful to me which you've a 1gig and a 2gig stick, in spite of if it is quite possible thats what you have. Did you purchase it new? If it won't void the guaranty(no tape on the door) Open it up and seem.

My laptop is my educational source, information source, entertainment system, video game, and lot others. U can go for it mam. Video card is excellent too. make your daughter happy.

Dells are not reliable, and besides that, they have a lot of problems. If you want a computer that's reliable, high quality, with no problems, you should get a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092. I have one, and I love it. I would highly recommend it.

Yeh they are good... had mine for over 1 1/2 years and no problems.
They are more expensive than other brand names eg Toshiba but you can choose exactly what you want with them
