Well they have a rich history and tradition to follow
Not to mention a great RB and coach.
3-4 years
And if anyone says this year or next year they're probably just kissing your butt

The Niners have 4 or 5 years before they have a chance to go to the Super Bowl. The main reason is Alex Smith. Smith is maturing but not quickly enough that he can lead the team to the Super Bowl. He needs some real household name receivers. Darrell Jackson was a great add this year but they still need more. Arnaz Battle is alright but he isn't exactly go-to receiver. The backfield is great. Gore is a young player with incredible speed and strength. Hicks and Robinson are great backups. Their D is going to have to get stronger. They have a good defense but it is only a matter of time before bryant young retires and they have to start the D from scratch. Julian Peterson was a great LB but York was too damn stupid and cheap that he didn't want to spend any money. The addition of Nate Clements and Michael Lewis were probably the best moves the front office has made in a while. If the Niners can pick up some young defensive players and one or two veteran receivers, then they have a chance at the Super Bowl in 4 or 5 years. Even though they will have a good team with the players they have, they won't have the maturity level to guide them through the playoffs against teams that are experienced and know how to handle the playoff atmosphere.

I'll take 3 years as the low number and 6 as a high number,, of course anything can happen over that much time..
The niners are finally building a worthwhile team, i'm a diehard cowboys fan, but i was really feeling sorry for the niners over the last few years,,
Alex Smith is really coming along, Gore is a stud, Vernon Davis will be a freak, nate clements was a good pick up, but i don't know if they should have paid him that much money,, Their o-line is solid, as are the line backers.. I don't know what you guys will do for wide receivers, but that hasn't been a huge problem in san fran over the years,,,
In a weak NFC, you could see them get far in the playoffs in the next few years, maybe even to a superbowl, but the power seems to be in the AFC, much like the West rules the NBA, the four best teams are in the AFC (at least), let's hope some of that power gets shifted back to the NFC..

I have been thinking 3 years is a good estimate......As a fan I want them this year and will root very hard for them.... but i sometimes have to be practical ... .I think this year they will get in the playoffs and get their feet wet and get to the second round.........The next year they will go even deeper and battle it out in the NFC Championship......knock on the door so to speak.....and the next year superbowl.........The thing is the NFC really isn't that scary......The only team i really worry about is the Saints.......So i think its not too big of a task especially with a smart, talented and maturing QB in Alex Smith...not to mention all the young talent like the phenomenal Frank Gore.....they will soon be huge huge stars........ if they keep going in the direction they are going they will be in the superbowl..........i think sooner than people think.......

Well, when they hired Mike Nolan a couple of years ago, I told my friends that they would make the playoffs in three years. It looks like that may come true. As far as the superbowl, I think that it will be 3 years from now, maybe shorter if they draft a very good linebacker next year (maybe Dan Connor from PSU?)

I would say 2-3 years, maybe next year but more likely the following year. Since the NFC is soft it is easier to rise to the top of that Conference.

they have a pretty good team. have great players, and have picked many other great ones, so they will play good this yr, but next yr they will be in the playoffs, or even superbowl, and may even win it. u never know.
