What kind of dance do you do? What should you need to know how to do to get on? Should you know splits and cheerleading stuff?

Although I'm long out of high school, the dance team at my school mostly did hip-hop type of dance. I was too chicken to audition as I was never one of the "in" kids. Having any type of dance background, including cheerleading, would be helpful. You may not be doing splits (depends if your coach uses them in routines), but having the flexibility, stregnth, and stamina/endurance to do the rountines will definitely be a benefit.

However, even if you don't have a dance background, it's still very possible to learn the dance team moves as they're repeated often in rehearsals. So, if you want to give it a shot, then by all means, go for it.

i just made it for the dance team at my high school....we had to know how to do double pirouettes, axels, split leaps, we had 2 be flexible too, and we had to have a good memory and be able to pick up the routines quickly

we are doing mostly jazz

we have only had practice for about 9 days and we already learned 5 dances....we only practice 4 two hours and one of those days doesnt count because there were tryouts..

Well, at my school we do...
Pom
Military
Jazz
Lyrical
Modern
Novelty
And more...

We do diff. kinds of kicks, splits, leaps, and different turns.

Work on those, and do different stretches...lunges, straddle, and butterfly.
