you have to have an epa freon handleing certificate and a reclaim machine registered with the epa to legally buy or sell freon.....anyone can go to the class and take the test to get the certification...then you could legally put freon in any ac you own...

You can't. A person must have certification in order to go the the HVAC supply house and purchase freon. You also must be certified to handle freon...it is a VERY dangerous gas/liquid. My fiancee' was an A/C installer and accidentally got some on his fingers and they immediately froze...like instant frostbite. He ended up with 3rd degree burns from the coldness...it was really gross and painful!!! So please just call a HVAC company from the yellow pages and have them come out.

I not think you can without a license. Sorry.
You can fix everything else, but, when it comes to Freon you need a license to buy it.

I think you have to be certified to buy and use freon, but any AC vendor carries it. Not sure where you live, but you can try RSD, US Air Conditioning, Grainger, Allied, Baker Dist to name a few.

The bastards have the invironment whacco's that stifle do it your self, yet most technicians let the R22 blast out to save the time it takes to capture it and bring it to be reclaimed, or destroyed. The government do not want people that do for themselves, as that will take control out of their hands.
