Tornado--you can't see it coming.

A hurricane can be predicted. You KNOW that it's coming. You KNOW that it may hit you. You KNOW that you're going to get wind and rain.

With a tornado, you just don't know. I've been in the middle of farming and have a funnel cloud appear out of nowhere. I've seen tornadoes pop up and disappear. I've seen them destroy ENTIRE cities or destroy maybe ONE house.

I've been through both, and the tornado was much more terrifying. You just don't know what's going on. You can't hunch down and prepare yourself for the force of impact until the sirens go off. With a hurricane you have days, even weeks to mentally and physically prepare.

Been through both. The F2 sucked the window air conditioner in the house the first one. The next, missed us by one block. The damage can be incredible. Things broke off and blew away because nothing can withstand a large tornado. An F5 will suck the asphalt from the road.

The hurricane was much milder but over a larger area and longer time. Only a hundred mph wind peak (the one I was in). While it lasted for hours than switched direction, the maximum wind was much less. Lots of rain. Things broke off and blew away because of poor construction.

Both can kill. For a hurricane you run to safety and watch it on the news. For a tornado you cower and hope not to die. Because of the unpredictability of tornado's, it is worse.

definite I agree that those phrases could be perplexing. before everything Hurricanes, Typhoons and Cyclones are each and every of the comparable. all of them are available in from the sea and are powered with the aid of the warmth waters, for this reason why we don't get them interior the united kingdom. Hurricanes are what English human beings call them. Typhoons are jap and Cyclones are the different Asians. Tornadoes are thoroughly diverse they arrive whilst warm air and funky air meet and puncture a layer above and then a tornado starts to look and pop out of the clouds and hits the Earth Please do not get mixed up between those 2 they are like opposites to a minimum of one yet another.

I grew up in hurricane country and I lost my house in a hurricane. After we lost our house, my parents moved me to Tornado Alley. I HATE it!!!!!!!!! With a hurricane you have at least a day for a warning. With a tornado you have a couple minute warning, if you're lucky. I would rather go through a Category 5 hurricane than a F1 tornado. Have a great weekend!!!

A tornado can just come up out of the blue. With a hurricane, you know what to expect. I figure the tornado is worse.

Hurricane

They are both pretty bad, but I would have to say a hurricane....because they are bigger, and they last for days, unlike a tornado which only last a few hours or so. Plus, hurricanes cause flooding too.

Hurricanes usually are. Tornadoes can do a lot of damage in very localized areas -- they tend to be much smaller than hurricanes, but can move in very erratic paths and destroy anything they touch. Hurricanes are huge and cause a lot of wind, water, and lightning damage to a much larger area.
