Anything that has a lot of wild wind is best to get out of the way, because when they are first noted they could be only a category three, but if they are moving slowly they can increase in intensity. I would say get away from it as far as possible, but take with you those things that areally valuable such as photos, because they are memories that can never be replaced, no matter how much they are covered by insurance.

I have been in them before and they are just no fun.. Might as well get out of the way if you can..go somewhere you can take a few days off or mini vacation and just stay out of the way. Return when its safe no matter what catagory it is.

We've had a few in NC. Never had a problem with a 3 or less.
