You don't write agents off, they write you off :)

I can't tell you how long, it depends on the agent and what they're needs are. I can tell you though, to keep submitting every 6 months or so(assuming you continute to add credits to your resume) and send them headshot-postcards letting them know of your upcoming projects and inviting them to your shows/showcases/screenings.

If they don't bite initially it could be for a number of reasons - they already have enough actresses of your type, lack of training, lack of experience, etc. Who knows?

Just keep working and plugging away and keep sending them updates to show them that you ARE working and that you ARE an asset to have on their books and eventually they will call you in.

Honestly, it can take years, so you can't think in terms of "writing them off" because they won't sign you right at this moment. Good luck!

According to most bios from professional creative persons, they got where they are through a lot of persistence and patience. You probably should not write any of them off. Some will respond with constructive criticism, though not offers, and you should read and consider the criticism and see if you should adjust your presentation in ways they might suggest. This is intelligent self-interest on their part - if they can sell you, they do better, too!

If you didn't address your letter to a specific agent at the agency, you can write them off now. To learn how to submit yourself for representation and get a job read, Acting as a Business by Brian O'Neil.
