how to connect a DVI cable to from my monitor to my tv ?

i have a gateway monitor and it has a dvi input and so does my tv but when i connected them just a blue screen poped out

You can not daisy chain monitors.

You can connect your TV to your computer, or your TV to your computer. You can only connect both if you have a dual output adapter.
