Well.. didn't it say he was going back to see his great grandfather or something?... which considering the great grandfather marries her in the end.. he'd almost have to be.. man, now I've got to watch it again to double check.. Weird..
In the present time no.. but if he is correct that it is his great great whatever then yes because he didn't have any kids before that.

Uh no not at all. They're neighbors and they had even dated for awhile. Kate has a brother and its not Liev in that movie.
