So for a country of 26 million it only takes $500 billion and 140k troops who can't take off there safety switch unless there are being shot at. Don't forget it's also only had a government for 2 yrs. Wow that's it from a liberal perspective huh? That's all it takes to have a country? Don't forget these people have not said get out of our country we've got it from here. You've got a bi-partisan president, and a worthless congress backing you Iraq. Had he not had to play defense here, he could have played offense there thus establishing the party lines. Dems are doing the same thing. No one wants to take a stand and it's because we have scared them. The longer they can get elected, then stay in this neutral quagmire that is until election time rolls back around. Hillary says she's going to pull the troops out, but that won't happen overnight because of the knowledge of what has happened in the past. Vietnam, Cambodia...We are stuck minimum 10 yrs. The sooner we as Americans can accept that the sooner we can get together and speed the process up.

If you had a police department of 100 people and a population of 100,000 that hated them how long do you think it would take them to run for the hills? Military forces cannot use brute force to overcome a large population that is not supporting them.

The marked change in the country's security, and polls that he said show 70 percent to 80 percent of Iraqis want the US to leave.

Bush doesn't care about anything, but securing the oil supply for the rich oil people. His efforts and high gas prices will make gas obsolete.

It's a complicated answer. I think that the US government was a bit naive when they went into this. And the money you mentioned is a little misleading because a lot of money was wasted. And a lot of money was spent just to hire people at expensive wages, since going into Iraq is a risky situation.

Howdy Chi-Dog....
Maybe because we are not fighting to conquer the people of Iraq?
Hey, I know we are opposit sides mostly, But you gotta admit, This is a Whole New Type of War being Waged.
No Armies or Big Battles.
I wish it was done too, but it isn't.
Good Question.....

Poor planning and execution. Too much worry about civilian casualties. Not nice to say, but true. War is about a takeover, not about playing nice. If we went in full blast, no pun intended, instead of playing nice, there wouldn't be the situation that is there now. However, we would be tried for war crimes against civilians.

Intercene strife. Religious & cultural differences tied with distribution of oil revenues keep the whole pot boiling and Iran thowing ghost troops in to the kettle doesn't help.

well maybe they're waiting for Iraq's population to drop to a few hundred so they can finally seize them and say "we won the war. god bless america".

Funny how civilians are too evil, terrorist and have such an awesome war strategy training that 140K troops cannot handle them.

Last time I checked there are lots more people that hate us there than we have troops. Most of those 26 million also hate other Iraqis too.
