and just them off. It's like brainwashing. Some things can be agreed upon and progress can be made but you are too thickheaded to get past your egos. Not good.

I think it is a product of the times. To begin, with all the media outlets, you can find sources that cater to a specific world view, and rarely be exposed to other opinions. Second is the growth of cable news talk shows, pioneered by Fox, though the other ones are trying to follow. There, the "debate" is reduced to shouting, where it isn't about making a salient point and rebutting what the other person said, but over-talking them and having the best zinger.

Learning is a skill, and like any skill, it has to be practiced, otherwise we lose it. In this world, that skill is diminished.

So, we actually have had, recently, several conservative writers put forth columns speaking favorably of Hillary Clinton's foreign policy stance. I doubt many people have read them and thought about them; conservatives will dismiss it because it is about Hillary, liberals will dismiss it based on the author (or simply use the fact that a conservative supports one aspect of Hillary as a reason to label her as conservative). Instead, they can get a 5 minute soundbite on "their" outlet telling them what they already think.

I am open to all ideas. They must make sense, and provide a service or purpose...and if the two concepts of religion or science play a part, religion must ALWAYS take a seat to science.

For instance, global warming. Yes, man is wreaking havoc on earth. It is plain as can be. Scientists world wide, of all types, have been studying it.

Yet, conservatives feel comfortable completely ignoring the problem, and not striving for a solution.

I'm not blocking anything out here....I'm just looking at two different ideologies: one cares about the future, and one cares about "right now". Well, the future will be meaningless if we don't take care of the "right now" issues in a responsible fashion.

In that sense, conservatives are VERY IRRESPONSIBLE.

On things like the death penalty though, I'm all for it. I don't like a weeping liberal to stand in the way of a death sentence....so there are two sides to the coin, as always. If you can't bother with turning the coin over, you are part of the problem. These people either better stay out of the way, or learn to help be part of the solution...which means supporting issues sometimes that make sense, and that fall outside of your political affiliation.

I try and try to understand a rational perspective from a conservative, rational with compassion for the less fortunate.
It does not exist, unless you look at the root of the republican party small government, lower taxes, workers unions and the like. Ron Paul is an example of a true republican, which oddly enough i admire, considering that i am a socialist... In the heart of the republican party they are good people, but most now are misguided judgmental selfish morons,,,, i block everything they say because none of it is true, it is propaganda from the elite...

My ego is a light walker... and i always monitor it but feel justified berating people that need a good knock on the head to remember that the world is not placed here for them it is here for us to learn to work together and evolve as a species....
communication not war......

the left and right are energized by the moderate"my vote doesn't count so i am not going to vote" crowd. the extremes from both sides are hate mongers. think about it,only 100 million voted for pres in 2000. that is 1/3 of the population. the extremes are the ones voting politicians into office. the moderates are the ones sitting at home complaining but still they don't vote. in turn the main players keep upping the ante for hate and none of them know how to play well together. VOTE Y'ALL.

There are just too many Liberals and Conservatives who are set in their views that are completely opposite that they can't agree upon any thing.
And the thumbs up or down all depend on what the personal view of the person who is giving a thumbs up or down.

Because one group thinks their right and the other is wrong. That's why they're are parties. If everyone agreed on the same think having multiple parties would be pointless. I do agree with you about they fact that they should agree with some things because it would be alot easier to get progress on some things.

They will never be able to convince each other to change so their best shot is to convince the independents that their thinking is correct. To do that they shouldn't be to outrageous but rather logical Those that shout "Bush equals Hitler" just turn independents off and really hurt the liberal cause because they just potray themselves as people not to be associated with.

Such behavior stems more from a desire to appear to be right. These people rarely take the time to ponder arguments and ask whether they actually ARE right.

It's kind of a collectivist mentality. You get the same behavior in sports fans and mobs.

I have blocked 2 people only because they don't even provide serious questions or answers. Some people say crazy things, but they believe it. I block the trolls that are only here to start trouble.
