Hi, I noticed that one of my rims has a bit of a dent in it.

Someone told me i could buy a new rim at an auto wrecker.
I don't know what to ask for. Do I tell the guy the model of the car, or would I just need the tire size?

Why not just take your car to the shop, and let the wrecker see the rim size?

look at the tyre size that will give the size of the rim eg 195 15 60
would be a 15 inch rim then they would need to know the manufacturer to know how many bolt to hold it on. Always take the old tyre and car with you just in case.

The best way to do it is to know the year make and model of the car AND the tire size.

Be careful at a junk yard. They don't always know if the wheels they are selling are any better than the one you're trying to replace. Make them give you a guarantee that if the wheel is not perfect that you can exchange it for another one that is.

Take the old rim with you to the salvage yard. Then there is no question if it is the right rim. good luck.

Yeah that's what I do also. I buy tires depending on what deals are out and take em to my own mechanic, he does em cheap for me. Also you should get one of the tires under warranty if you buy em new, so if one goes flat or gets a bubble you can have it replaced free, but you don't end up wasting too much money by having warranty on all 4 tires

If you give them the year, make and model, they should be able to give you the right rim without seeing the vehicle...
Good luck!
