Did you ask this Q earlier today or reference it?

SELF STICK leaves such minor residue behind there should hardly be an issue.

With all due respect, and the fact that I've been on the planet doing what I do probably far longer than most. HEAT will only cause more mess.

Since you don't detail the REASON I'll assume it's to install new flooring. I want to assume also that someone may have used additional adhesive when applying the self stick...which I have recommended in the past week or so for installing self stick, which I find a BAD way to go.

In not knowing your intent after the fact, New Self Stick. Vinyl sheet/ laminate or hardwood/Tile,,,the issue shouldn't even exist, if in fact it's just the "Sticky" from the self stick. It can be more than MILS thick like a trash bag, and shouldn't be an issue to cover

Use a heat gun or a hair dryer and a putty knife. Heat the glue and then scrape it off. Two or three layers of newspaper and an old iron will work. The glue is absorbed by the paper, and if the iron gets ruined, who cares.

When I removed mine, I used the hair dryer and/or an iron to loosen the tile and the glue and it pretty much just popped off.

I agree with Doc, (am also a contractor) heat will not only make a mess, it can release TOXIC vocs depending on the type (if any) of supplemental adhesive used. What type of substrate is involved? concrete, wood, ? Also, what do you want to do afterwards? new vinyl? ceramic?
Armstrong makes an effective adhesive remover.
Also, please do not listen to the idiots who are telling you to use flammable substances without even knowing where the floor is. A pilot light from a stove, water heater, heater could easily ignite vapors and remove skin/extremities along with the adhesive.

hard work with scrapers or use "talcum powder" to get rid of the stickyness, just sprinkle it over the glue, should do the job unless the glue is very thick/sticky.
