far less corrupt.
Publicly funded elections would be the best alternative. Also, all politicians should, by law, set aside a block of hours in the year that must meet with group representatives in their office and hear their requests/suggestions in person.

Each side would find another way to buy power as long as one can stick unrelated items into a bill/law. It is time to rain-in the politicians require each law to only be about 1 item that is narrowly defined the laws would become transparent & the politician would have to run on their record.
A true oxymoron an accountable politician!

We need to abolish the legal bribe system.
Full public campaign financing is a huge step in the right direction. They'll be working for voters instead of the big money industries and corporations that bankroll them currently.
We also need to phase out all the other money in politics like PAC's and 527's, which are also forms of legal bribery.

I believe earmarks would increase dramatically to favor the politicians financially. And then we would have to do something about it. In the end, its a vicious cycle and until we as the people take a stand it will only get worse. I think sooner or later we will be a third world country, rich getting richer, poor getting poorer.

There would be a lot of politicians in jail for breaking that law. Politicians are going to find ways to get rich (have you ever seen a poor politician in Washington). There will be a lot of under the table payments made-----and a lot of politicians will get caught with $100,000 in their home freezers.

that is something i have said for year and years. that would level they playing field and perhaps more ppl of quality could afford to run for office on all levels.
maybe a federal fund set up for each serious candidate making them handle the money carefully to get the most benefit from it. also, might have the media give a each a few free spots to get their msg out then make the serious candidate eliminated the BS and get to their msg on what they would have to offer. all the canidates regardless of their party, have to spent millions to be elected...so the one with the most money will usually win. america is the loser in this system.

Then politicians would actually get things done that need to be done, not one rich company who pays a guy to pay and wine and dine a politician wants done.
