Weird... I didn't know you knew anything about baseball... and this question shows it! jk. oh you have to read Fatto's question in the auto racing section more carefully. It is really true and funny ... also check out some of the funny answers.
The giants aren't a very good team, so what do you expect? Bonds isn't that successful anyway since it was inevitable that he would break that ONE record. He isn't even having a very good year. Neither are his teammates. He has almost 0 success to transfer even if he could somehow transfer success.

You're comparing Apples and Oranges. You're comparing his CARRER numbers to the Giants success in a single season.
It's worth noting that since Barry game to the Giants in 93 they've been to the made four appearances in the post season including a world series appearance in 02. The also narrowly missed the postseason in 93 winning 103 games. (there was no wild card then) So in many respects over the last decade or so the Giants success has be very reflective of the succes that Bonds has enjoyed.

Bonds can't be the whole team. I am a huge Giants fan but in order for the Giants to start doing better, they need a better bullpen for one and hitting to backup the pitching. The Giants did a great thing when they got rid of Benitez. Look at Matt Cain. He's a great pitcher but statistically, it doesn't show. They also need to get some younger players. Half the team was born in the seventies, Omar was born in 67 and Bonds was born in 62. They're paying Zito 125 million and his pitching has gotten progressively worse over his career and his stats will back that up.
Bonds can't carry the whole team. He's probably the best to ever play but he can't be the whole team.

Because it would be too obvious now if he gave them his steroids.
Seriously, this happens a good bit when there are one or two good players on a team but the rest of the team isn't that great. One or two players can't carry the other 23 or 24 throughout the season on a regular basis. I mean look at the Dodgers and Brad Penny. He's 14-3 and seemingly in competition for the Cy Young but the Dodgers are in 4th place 6 1/2 games back and 2 games above .500.

The Giants stink because many of their position players are old enough to receive an AARP card at the next birthday.
The payroll is held hostage by the obscene amount paid to Bonds.
But take heart, Giant fans, you have good young pitching that could turn the team around in a hurry.

I see a lot of answers claim that the Giants have "bad" pitching. I would like to argue that they dont have bad pitching just weak run support, which in turn looks like bad pitching on paper.
They have the pitching to get things done, they just need a protection guy for Bonds in the lineup and a good #6 hitter.
Believe it or not Giants fans, it's not the old age that's killing the Giants, or Bonds/Zito's salaries, it's the lack of another big bat in the lineup [see Jeff Kent, 2002]

Baseball is the least "team" of any team sport. Bonds can only do his part, but baseball is a tough sport in which to succeed unless a talented player is surrounded by other talented players.
Unlike soccer, basketball, or hockey, baseball is more about one-on-one matchups (pitcher vs. batter) than about team vs. team. No matter how well Bonds hits, he can't make up for a lackluster lineup and poor pitching.

Baseball is a team game, no one player can carry the ENTIRE team offensively for an entire season. Their pitching staff isn't performing as well as they should be and they have no bullpen. They are a team of old beat up veterans that just don't have what it takes to perform at a high level every day anymore.

when you have a team with a limited budget and a player that wants 25% of that budget, it's hard filling in holes around him so that the team, as a whole, can be successful.
Being rich already, if Bonds wanted to transfer his success to the giants, he would have requested a $1 million dollar contract.
