i was in a band for ever and i was a drummer i play guitar and write all the time now. Best thing to do is get what your wanting to write about on your mind and just think of the most awesome but basic way you could explain everything in your head. Write it all out then pull parts of the song that you like the best use it as your chorus then go into detail in the verses. its gotta have a good melody other wise your just writing a poem. JUST LET IT FLOW....

Nice tune and chord progressions, but I hope you'll flesh out the accompaniment a bit -- the pounding 4/4 block chords become a little tedious. Even outlining the chords with running 8th and/or 16th notes would add interest, as would some rhythm variations. You have a talent for composition, so I hope you'll finish/refine the music for this song. And I hope you'll keep working on the lyrics so they become viable -- heartfelt, but avoiding cliches. :-)

first, you gotta be sad. you don't just "come up" with a sad song. it's gotta come from DEEP inside you. If you have a reason to wirte a sad song, then you don't need help coming up with anything. Emotion is what drives music and lyrics composition, not a bunch of ideas from a Q&A website.

well, it's easier to write what you feel or what you've experienced.

if you feel sad or depressed, just write down what you feel and then make it into a song.
if you don't feel that way, try listening to songs that ARE about that subject so that you get a feel for what it's like to be sad/depressed.

take some cues from Tori Amos- She can write a gut-wrenching song poetically, with beautiful metaphors and melodies that go beyond simple rhyme-and-time.
