Who cares? If you enjoy it, do it. High school winds up being such a small part of your life, just enjoy it while you can. :D

It is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun and camaraderie, not to mention the trips for shows and competitions and stuff. I twirled flag with the band for a year, and it was a blast.

Besides, when I was in high school 25 years ago, being in the band was kinda geeky, but being in the chorus was worse. We were the only people that the band people could pick on. lol

But, to this day, I still sing, and am even a professional singer, so I am glad I got that experience, and made my best friends there. :)

I was in a marching band in high school and I didn't think it was geeky.
I thought it was fun.
Those who think it is geeky probably wouldn't be interested in band anyway and they are probably getting into some kind of trouble because they don't have anything to do with their spare time.
Don't worry about what other people think, just do what you want to do and what makes you happy.

It depends on who is looking. Sure athletes think it is, but most people think athletes have a low I.Q.
I would much rather be geeky and employee-able out of school then a low IQ washed out athlete.
Be who you want to be and darn the rest of them.
No single person can please everyone all the time, someone will always find a reason to classify you no matter what you do.
Only you can make you happy.

p.s
No offense intended toward athletes

Some of the best friends you could ever make, you'd meet in band. I was in band (percussion) and orchestra (cello) from 4th grade through high school and I STILL talk to and see probably 6 of my old buds from band- and this is from 35-40 years ago!!!! In fact, one of my HS friends who lives in Oregon now is coming to visit me in Tennessee for a week next month! My 11 yr old grandson just started middle school band (drums, of course). It's the best thing you could do for yourself. You'll never be sorry that you learned a new skill.

It was geeky in the mid 60's. But now it's cool.

Geek is cool. The majority of geeks usually become billionaires later in life. So join the band, have a ball, and don't let peer pressure stop you of doing something that you like and want to do.

NO, its not, i was in the marching band for my whole 4 years in hs, it was fun, you would go to all the pep-rallies, all the games for free, free transportation as well, all of out of town games for free, and goto competitions out of town as well, it is good, it will look good in an application because it tells taht you can handle an extra curriculum activity, it also keeps you in shape

Of course I would say no because I was in the band. Of course, 'Geek is part of my screen name so... I think to limit yourself because you think that something is geeky is very immature.

I was in one. I had some scaring days .... like one day, I was doing my first street march, I was playing my cornet and then I tripped, everyone behind me fell like dominoes, then, my trousers fell down .... But hell you should go for it baby =] Don't care what other people think, it's what you think.
