I enjoy reading poetry very much its probably one of my favorite pass times. I have recently read Walt Whitman's Leaves Of Grass which was amazing and Richard Wilbur's Collected Poems which was ok not exactly my taste. I need to find some poets more like Poe or possibly E.E. Cummings. I want to read something deep, refreshing, realistic, or admirable. Something that makes you dig deep within yourself to find it's meaning. Please if you have any subjestions let me know thanks and God Bless.

I like a lot of JD's list. The problem with some of your favorites (which is not really a problem) is that they are so unique. No one is really like them. I would look at Billy Collins, Louise Gluck, or Sharon Olds.

You are likely not going to go wrong in any event.

The most authentic and profoundly moving poetry can be found right here. The poets may not be world renowned but they are every bit as soulful, more raw, and in my opinion a lot less pretentious.

Poetry is like religion - you get it if you need it. A wonderful source of poetry is poets themselves, if you notice. They are always dedicating this and that to one another (See Al Purdy's tribute to W.H. Auden http://pokerpulse.com/news/viewtopic.php?p=2950#2950). You'll find more in the poetry guides listed here http://pokerpulse.com/news/viewtopic.php?t=1873, too. Losing Streak, too, for obvious reasons has a number of corkers: http://pokerpulse.com/news/viewtopic.php?t=1835. Scroll through a few riffs and see what you come up with. Many are annotated for a kind of 3-D experience. Enjoy!

If you want "Deep" and want to "feed your soul" try classic christian poetry. They are very intense, very deep and very beautiful.
