any of Tamora Peirce's books. she is an exellent author that has yet to be reconised as sush. but she writes REALLY good fantasy.

Tamora Pierce is an excellent fantasy writer these are from her Tortall books. They all connect in some way but each series has its own feisty heroine. Hope this helps :-D
