I would go if chosen but that is unlikely. I'd much rather go to the Moon. You could see the Earth from there and I'm sure it would be an awe inspiring sight. I know that if the Earth were in view I'd never get any work done. I can see it now Houston would radio, "what's going on, is Bryce Earth struck again?"

Being on Mars would be like living in very cold version of the dusty deserts of the American southwest and despite the atmosphere, it's not breathable. 25 degrees below zero is a warm day. I've been reading that they think even the atmospheric dust there might may contain substances like arsenic which are poisonous to humans. Even in the best case scenario the round trip would be a minimum of three years. I would be cool to see Olympus Mons and that canyon that is much larger than the Grand Canyon but living on Mars would not be easy.

Let's assume I did. When the others were doing the hard science of research and even harder technology to keep everybody alive until earth again flooded into the spacecraft
I'd have already been evaluated by NASA. This agency will
look at every reader who responded to this question, make
obvious comparisons with the others so selected, and assign you to history. Like virtually most people on Planet Earth we'd all be assigned to cleaning, garbage disposal,
and handle radio dialogue with UFO toffs who might waste time of more valued crew members; it isn't likely our sort declines opportunity of association with manic-depressive psychosis cases if not on Mars (See what fame gets you?).

Its for 2.5 years. And I am considering it but I am having a hard time learning russian (the experiment will be conducted in russia in cooperation with the ESA). And 2.5 years in a tin can... 100 euros/day... The deadline for applying is in only weeks away in september. So we´ll see.

the jobs not going to mars its just being an experminet how it would be to be in a space shuttle for 2 years. So you have to give up 2 years of your life just to help someone astronaut to get to mars. if it was a trip to mars I would say yes. they should maby get prisoners for these tests because they would prefer to be in a space shuttle than a prison cell and it can count 2 years to there term
