Am mathphobic...however tried this one on a calculator, and if I used it right, I'd surely buy the $14.00 bag of Hershey bars, because they'd be 40 cents each, and the $9 bag would come out to 45 cents each. Gotta' save the nickels!

I did divisions.

Oh well, so much for the numbers!

The 35 bars because 9/20 is .45 meaning each bar costs you 45 cents. But 14/35 is .4 meaning each bar only costs 40 cents.
Of course this only works if the bars are the same size. And if you aren't going to use the 35 bars then it would be a waste and for only 5 cents more a bar you should just get the 20 bars.
But price wise 35 bars is a better deal.

By the way, I'm hoping this is not a trick question because if you notice it says "a bag of 20 Hershey bars" vs. "a bag of 35 bars". You don't specifically say HERSHEY bars for the bag holding 35 -- are these "bars" Hershey bars, or some other, less desirable "bar" product??

20 Hershey Bars for $9.00 = $.45 each. (DEAL #1)

35 Hershey Bars for $14.00 = $.40 each (DEAL #2)

So, obviously DEAL #2 is better for 2 reasons: You're saving $.05 a bar ~ AND ~ also gasoline because you won't have to go back to the store a second time.

BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!

If you go with DEAL #2 and eat the 15 extra Hershey bars, you'll be spending $100 +/- for a weight-loss program !!

A better buy would be 35 bars for $14 because the bars would be $0.40 a piece and if you bought the 20 bars for $9 they would be $0.45 a piece. Price per unit. I shop like that in the grocery store all the time.

Assuming all the bars are the same brand and size, the 35@$14 because the bars cost $0.40 per bar vs $.045 for the bag of 20

It would be cheaper to spend to buy the 35 bars because you are paying $.40 a bar, but if you buy the 20 bars you are going to pay $.45 a bar. I believe you are saving about a$1.75.

20 bars for $9 because in the bag with 35 bars each bar costs $2.50 and in the bag with 20 bars each bar costs $2.22.

It depends how big the bars are.

If the bag has more ounces of chocolate than the 35 individual bars then buy the bag if not buy the individual bars.

20 bars are 45 cents a piece the bars are 40 cents.... so if you only care about the most for your money you go for the 35... if you care about your health you don't buy either you go get an apple and pocket the change.
