There's nothing to solve in this problem. It depends on what you were asked to do....If it is y=3/4x+5/2 then 5/2 is the point in the y-intercept and 3/4 is the slope. (Three up four to the right). If they asked you if it was a linear equation or if it modeled a function, it does.Hope to have helped.

Find common denominator which is 4x so multiply only the 5/2 by (2x) to get 10x/4x. Then cancel (x)s on the top and bottom and simplify 10/4 into 5/2. You should end up with 8/2 after you add the 3 to that and that 8/2 my dear simplifies into 4!

Your question seems incomplete. What is it you are trying to accomplish? If you want to get a common denominator then simply multiply the second term by 2x/2x (which is really multiplying by one which doesn't change the value of the term.)

3/4x + (2x/2x) (5/2)
3/4x + 10x/4x
(3+10x)/(4x)

Summarizing then, if you add two fractions there must be a common denominator first
Hope this helps.

3/4x + 5/2 = 0

Multiply both sides of the equation by 4

4(3/4x) + 4(5/2) = 4(0)

3x + 10 = 0

Transpose 10

3x + 10 - 10 = 0 - 10

3x = - 10

Divide both sides of the equation by 3

3x / 3 = - 10/3

x = - 10 / 3

x = - 3 1/3

- - - - - - - -s-

Fractions must have common denominators before you can add or subtract them.
So for instance you make it 3/4 +10/4=

Add the top number only.
4 is your denominator.

If you mean (3/4x)+5/2
= (3/4x)+(5.2x/2.2x) ------multiplying & dividing the 2nd term by 2x)
=(3/4x)+(10x/4x)
=(3+10x)/4x ans

3/4x + 5/2 = 6/8x + 20x/8x = (20x + 6)/8x

If you want yo know when (20x + 6)/8x = 0
20x + 6 = 0
20x = -6
x = -6/20 = -0.30

What are you trying to do? You don't have it set equal to anything!
Do you want to graph it?
Slove for x? (For this you have to have it equal to something else)
