Do any of you remember, or know, that Franklin Delano Roosevelt was serving his third term as President when he died? Did you know that it was after his term that it was decided to limit Presidents to two terms? Up until then a President could serve more than two terms,

FDR was in his 4th term when he passed away.

He was elected in 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1944. He shortly after taking the oath office in 1945.

He died in the beginning of his 4th term.

Congress didn't want a repeat of his "reign" so they passed, and the states ratified, the 22nd amendment to the constitution, limiting the number of times a person could be elected to the office of the president. It was specifically worded so that a person couldn't have two terms, skip a term, and then be reelected again.

But ... they didn't go far enough. There should have been term limits imposed on ALL elected offices in the federal government. One term for a senator, three terms for a congressman (a total of six years for each) would have been better than having the "professional" politicians we have today who care more about retaining their seats in office than they do about their constituents or the welfare of the country.

FDR was actually on his fourth term. He was elected in 1932; re-elected in 1936, 1940, 1944. He died in April of 1945.

Get your facts straight - by the time you finish eighth grade sweetie!
FDR died in his 4th term - before the atomic bomb saw the end of WWII!

but none of them did because they had integrity back then following george washingtons example-I believe there is no other president who served more than 2 terms
