Someone mentioned Hamilton, and the box score... the box score I am looking at (http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/gamecenter/live/MLB_20070816_CIN@CHC) does not have the RBI listed.

Hamilton's on my fantasy team and I was watching the game, that's how this came up ;) I thought I was going to get an RBI and CBSSportsline has not credited it yet... probably an erorr on their part.

I'll rate best answer as soon as they correct their error.

Rule 10.04.02 states that a batter will receive an RBI if by reason he becomes a runner with the bases full if because of a base on balls, a hit by the pitch, interference or obstruction..

A lot of people posted wrong answers here. There is an exception to a batter not getting an rbi w/ bases loaded, and that is when he grounds into a double/triple play. Any other time, the batter WILL get an rbi.. including hit by pitch.

Your site is wrong, it will be corrected later on.

It is a RBI with the bases loaded.

rule 10.04

a) The official scorer shall credit the batter with a run batted in for every run that scores...

(2) by reason of the batter becoming a runner with the bases full (because of a base on balls, an award of first base for being touched by a pitched ball or for interference or obstruction)

All batters that are hit by a pitched ball are credited with a run batted in (RBI) if all three bases are occupied.
That is assuming that in the umpires decision that the batter tried to avoid getting hit. If the umpire thinks that the batter deliberately tried to get hit by the pitch, then he will not allow the batter to take his base.

RBI = Runs Batted In
Hit By a Pitch = Ouch
