If the "people" have appoint Congress, and only Congress can tax, then how are the IRS (A non-governmental agency), get to do so. When did Congress Grant Authority, when did the people vote on this, and was the legislation clear. If no records of these exist, then why are we paying a non-governmental agency our taxes? They also "enforce" tax code, and to enforce anything on a federal level, there must be proper "delegation of authority" from Congress and on public record.. I live in D.C and have visited the Archives, and U.S Dept of State.......No delegation of authority was available.....Hum..........What's really going on? Are we too smart...........or have we accepted bad government as a way of life?

Yes you are correct, the IRS is only a service. I've always wondered what their fees are? The amendment to the constitution that allowed taxation of ordinary income was never ratified. Well politicians went ahead anyway. Its been challenged but turned down by the courts. Its all one big sham and now the barn door is open. We are going to have a reckoning soon!

The IRS is a part of the US Department of Treasury, not a company. I know I worked for the IRS and you go through all the same steps as applying and being hired as any other federal agency. You are a part of the federal salary and benefit structure and you are classified as a federal employee in every way. Just because you might disagree with the right of government to have an income tax doesn't mean you have to lie about the agency.

Most of the functions of Congress are performed in detail by agencies. The congress passes a law that says air pollution is illegal. The next step after that is not for your congressman to climb the smokestack of an incinerator and see whether there is any soot coming out of it. The detail work of implementing the laws falls to agencies that write specifics in a code that meets congress' intent. Those agencies then do the follow up.

The same thing happens with tax collection. Congress thinks of the ideas and bureaucrats follow with the details. You must realize that your Senator is not the guy who runs the computer that all the tax returns end up in.

That is in line with the constitution's intent and pretending that it is not will not change reality.

Just to note a couple of things. First the income tax is a direct tax, which is illegal for congress to do. Also the 16th amendment(enacted an income tax) was passed improperly thus nullifing it from being an amendment (The Law That Never Was proves this). Also something to note is congress tried by themselves to enact an income tax and the Supreme Court shot it down (srry i can't remember the case exactly).

Unfortunately the power structure goes to the men from the government with guns that come to your door if you don't pay income tax.

Congress prior to the 16th Amendment to the Constitution, did not have the power to tax people directly. The IRS was created as part of the Treasury Department.

The 16th Amendment was passed in 1913.

Congress does have the power to tax. The IRS does not. The IRS is in place to collect the taxes that congress enacts. Congress would not get anything else done if your representative had to go to your door and collect a check from you.

That's NOT true. The IRS is a part of the Department of the Treasury. The Legislative Branch creates laws (including taxes), and the Executive Branch enforces them. Really, where did you hear that nonsense?

The IRS is a group of government hired thugs.

The only difference between taxes and extortion is the punishment for not paying.

Extortionists break your legs.

The government throws you in prison to get rear ended by Bubba.

Congress has the power to declare war, but they don't go out and wage war. Congess levies the tax and the IRS collects it.

It never bothered me. The alternative is a massive power grab of all aspects of my life. It's worth fighting for via phone calls, protest, public awareness of voter registration fraud (those guys are my heros), fighting tax payer fraud, waste and abuse. Exercise your vote.
