Here is the scoop. I took my car to an auto shop to have my header leaks fixed. When i picked my car up, $400 later, the guy tells me that the left side is quite but now I have a small leak on the right. I'd be certain the header flanges are as flat as possible. Use a black magic marker and lay the header flange on a perfectly flat piece of ground stock. Use a flashlight to see the high spots and file or machine on a Bridgeport mill with an end mill cutter bit to make it flat again. If you can set the flange up horizontally and clamp the sides with precision vices use a fly cutter to hit the high spots. Use only Mr. Gasket header gaskets and SPS header bolts.

well i would think that if you had asked them to fix the leaks in the headers they would have fixed both leaks. but if you only pointed out the leak on one side when you brought it in, they will only fix that leak. and then tell you about any other problems they had seen, a good mechanic will only fix what has been approved by the customer.

all you have to do is unbolt the header and pull the old gasket out and slip a new one in and bolt it back up, they charged you $400 to fix one side?, you got ripped off big time.
