At lunch today, a pretty waitress touched my arm. It surprised and delighted me.

I guess most people are Billy, but I'm a "touchy - feely" kinda girl. When I talk to people I have a habit of touching them. Especially on their arm (just as the waitress did). I don't know why, but if I feel an immediate comfortability, I have to touch. Just strange that way I guess?

I think many people undervalue the importance of human contact. In my profession we have lectures on touch as a communication skill, and it's quite amazing what results you can get with people who sometimes have no other way of communicating. Nice question Billy :)

Now that's nice..too many people are afraid of human touch and may take a touch the "wrong" way, if you know what I mean. R U ready for that tire swing yet and root beer floats so we can touch??!!

I just kinda skipped to the end, but I think I know what you're saying. We shouldn't help provide Iran with nuclear power. Right?

you always have a knack for coming up with thought provoking questions. When did culture start frowning on physical contact and how did it become the norm to avoid pretty much everyone.

No, I love human contact, I've gotta have it. I'm one of those huggers. I hug hello, I hug goodbye. I'm glad you were surprised and delighted though. =)

My response would have been the complete opposite. Hate unwanted contact. Really despise shaking hands.

It's a common response dude. Even I had such experiences before, and one of my ex-girlfriend came from that touch. It's funny, but true dude.

Gees.....

Cheers :)

Well in American culture, physically touching someone is unacceptable from strangers. We're not afraid, just being cautious.
