The Tactics of Mistake by Gordon Dickson
Both of the above books have the most brilliant military tactics I've ever seen in a book and they are high tech science fiction.

Read the entire Hitchhikker's series. It is so entertaining, and a lot happens in the books. Quite amusing, really, but with enough action to keep you entertained.
