It is making a fluttering sound whenever I turn on the air conditioner. It sounds like a leaf or some object is touching the fan.

Sounds like the bearing in the fan is going bad. What you are probably hearing is the fan rubbing on the housing for the fan.

You will have to remove the blower motor and get in there and clean out whatever the problem is. I park my truck outside close to a tree and I will get the same problem sometimes. I have gotten so tired of it, I just let it make the noise and eventually, the leaf will disintegrate and the noise will go away.

The sound that you hear is the squirrel cage, or the blower motor fan has something in it. You can usually clean it out by removing the cage and cleaning the object out.
