Ok, so I'm 20 y.o will be 21 in a couple of months, I haven't had regular periods (I'll get one every 4-6 months) and I'm not obese, but I could lose about 40 pounds and I asked my mom, she said when she was heavier she never really got her periods and when she lost weight they started normally, anyway.I have already been pregnant once while with these crazy periods but had a m/c in Dec of 05.My bf and I have been TTC lately.I chart my saliva with a microscope to look for the "ferning" pattern and about 3-4 days ago it did show that I was "ferning" and it looked exactly like the pictures of fertile on the internet...I bought an OPK yesterday and took 1 test yesterday and 1 this morning and they both came out negative (where the control line was darker than the results line) I'm wondering could I have ovulated 3-4 days ago and was just too late with the OPK for it to predict it? or is the "ferning" not right? & can you ovulate w/o getting a period every month (because I got pg once)?

When using the saliva scope you typically see ferning for a couple of days at least. But yes, if you saw ferning 4 days before doing an OPK then chances are you would have already ovulated and therefore the OPK would be neg.
And your question about O'ing without a period, no, this isn't possible.
When the follicle releases the egg then the follicle turns to a corpus luteum and immediately starts producing high amounts of progesterone. This progesterone is what makes your body temp go up, causes the lining of the uterus to thicken, and then, in about 2 weeks, the corpus luteum dies (if not pg) and you get your period. The only way a woman would ovulate and not get a period about 2 weeks later, would be if she were to have conceived that cycle.
