i have a 92 honda civic. And my car just starting making a clunk noise every time i hit the brakes and i can also feel it as i hit the brakes. Someone told me it could be that i need a new caliper but im not really sure. What could be causing this?

There is also the strut rod that goes from the lower control arm to the engine cradle that could be going bad. When you accelerate it would slide back but hit on a rubber bushing that might keep it quiet, but if the bushing on the front side were missing or in poor shape, it would cause a clunk when you hit your brakes as it would hit metal to metal (washer to cradle).

But yeah, you could have a caliper bolt loose or a few other things. It is probably best to take it to a repair shop and have them diagnosis it.

You need to get the brakes inspected.
Most places do free inspections.

But you could either have a grabby caliper (sign it's leaking or is pitted), worn brake pads, worn brake rotors.

Don't keep driving it, it will get worse, and could cause an accident.
