I have heard of people who say they are both witches and Christians.
Actually..it is possible. The word witch comes from the term Witta..which on the British Isles simply means "simple country folk." -If your friend enjoys nature, whether or not he/she is Christian..if they like to garden, use natural herbs to heal, deliver babies (a midwife?) or hunt for their food, etc..they are probably practicing Witta..or what is called today, witchcraft. -Witchcraft is not an evil thing. It's only a love of nature.
It troubles witches today to hear that people believe they are evil and interested in this thing called Satan? In fact..witches do not believe in Satan at all and never did. They do have a "Stag/deer God" of the woods and when Christianity began, the Christians wanted to convert pagans to their beliefs..because it is uncomfortable to have people around with other beliefs for many people, and they turned the rack of the deer/stag into horns on thier version of the devil to make witches appear evil. But witches believe in ignorance being the true evil and closed-mindedness and do not believe in the devil. They believe that there are good consequences for good behaviours and bad consequences for bad behaviours and live by the creed, "Do what you will, yet do no harm." And that means to themselves AND to others. (Witches believe in Karma and that what you do will be returned to you times three!-So they have NO intent to do harm..because they do not wish to have three times the evil returned to them.)
Now..I know many Christians that would not appreciate your friend wanting to be both? But true witches..not just the kids that say they are to anger their parents..have no issue wiht this concept. Christians would site the part in the Bible saying "Thou shallt not suffer a witch to live." But notice that the person who said this was neither God, nor Jesus. In fact, the person who said this CALLED to him the Witch of Endor to call upon the dead to have an answer to a question he wanted to know. The witch was JUST fine for that?! But then, when the ghost was summoned and would not answer a question that a living person had no right to know, THEN the King was angry (spoiled, I would say!) and uttered the words, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live!" (Because he didn't get what he wanted. The witch summoned this ghost for him..then he blamed it on the woman who did him the favor when he was not told what he wanted to hear.)
Witta..or witchcraft is practiced throughout the world. there are people on the Carribean islands who are Catholics and practice the "old ways" form Africa..and combine them into the Santeria and Voudon religions. There are witches (called roma/gypes) in the slavic countries. And there are MANY more pagans currently globally than Christians. But Jesus was also known for his open-mindedness and tolerance and traveled across the European and Asian continents..and possibly also in Africa to study the spiritualities of many people. And this is why he is remembered and revered by all people. Wiccans/witches, Jewish (which HE was-he was heir to the throne of the jews..direct descendent of King David who was king of the Jewish people..which made him..a PAGAN himself,) people, Asians, British Wittas and Druids..etc..all honor him for his tolerance and love. All follow the 10 Commandments, as they were given to MOSES for all to follow..not just Christians, before Jesus was even born, right? Those are not just for Christians, contrary to popular belief..and even witches do follow them.
Rest easy..your friend has an open mind. It is wonderful they are tolerant and exploring the spiritualalities that are out there. More like your friend and the world would have more talk and less war!

So..then, sure..your friend can be both Christian and a Witch with no conflict! and I hope you will remain open-minded and loving to your friend and even learn about nature and enjoy the differences!

Can't serve 2 masters: God&Satan

Witchcraft(Black Magic) will attract to you a very bad Karma the next life. Witchcraft is earnest punished than suicide. It is against the Holy Spirit.

Magic(that can be White or Black, depending on what purpose you have, what instruments you use and how you make the prayer) is the manipulation of energies in nature.

Black Magic: Voodoo, Witchcraft, curses, Sorcery,....
White Magic: Shamanism, Teurgy, ...

White Magic uses: Normal cross, sanctified instruments, candle put in a normal position when lit, praying to Holy Spirit or Masters of Medicine, normal pentagram, etc.

Black Magic uses: all of the above but INVERTED.

Inverted Pentagram:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2b/Inverted_Pentagram_circumscribed.svg/2000px-Inverted_Pentagram_circumscribed.svg.png

Inverted cross: http://i1.cpcache.com/product_zoom/264652497/inverted_cross_dog_tshirt.jpg?height=250&width=250&padToSquare=true

Inverted candle:

Do not try something even if someone tells you it's white magic what he wants to teach you, because he might use black magic and trick you, it's risky. I am in an esoteric school and gained some experience that is why I know now what is good or bad.

Well, lets see, what was called Witchcraft in the Old days ............... Herb lore, Midwifery, Potions and Oils, Blacksmithing, Dowsing, Astrology, Palmistry, Numerology, speaking to spirits and divination.

So, your friend can do any of those things as a witch and still follow the Christian faith................. Well, except that Paul/Saul said all those things were or Satan and evil and Jesus said that the old laws still applied to the Jews. Who is your friend going to follow, Jesus or Paul?

Wicca on the other hand is a religious path that has as part of it's basis structure the Goddess and the God, this does not mix well with Christianity which allows for only one God.

i'm Pagan and I have some friends whose prent practices witchcraft and still believes in the Christian God. I believe that worship of anything is up to the individual. If that person feels flfilled by doing that, then it's absolutely ok. As long as it makes you happy, then i see absolutely no problem with that. I think people need to be more open-minded about things like that as well.

Absolutely. Witchcraft is not a religion; your friend can incorporate both successfully into her life.

Witches do not necessarily serve a "master." That said, witches do not worship Satan -- Satanists worship Satan. And the majority of witches are certainly not ungodly or evil (there may be a few, just as there are evil Christians in the world). People who make such broad statements are usually either narrow minded or have gleaned their knowledge of witches from fairytales and movies.

Yes it is entirely possible. If she believes in the Bible and what it ACTUALLY says then yes she can. Of course her witchcraft will be limited mostly to healing and divination, and she will need to be careful of her methods.

There are alot of christian/witches out there. Of course they are not the Christian extremist that we usually think about when we hear the word "christian". Religion is a choice and if she wants to practice both then that is her business. She answers for her own soul and it doesn't affect anyone else. Religion is a very personal choice.

At one point in history many Christians practiced the crafts.
Dowsing
Midwifery
Healer
Bone setter
Herbalist
Maker of potions
Candle maker
Animal caller
Scientists
Teachers of philosophy
Psychic
Empath
Maker of poultices
Librarians
Finder of Ley Lines
Magick
All of those within the above crafts were then called witches by Christianity and many executed for practicing their craft.

To study and work in any craft is not becoming a Witch. It is not those of the Crafts that your friend will have to fend off, it is the fanatic Christians that believe all on the list above as minions of the Christian demigod Satan.

DR. Zoom Zoom, pastes most of his answers from http://usminc.org/famous.htm l This web site is not a valid source of information. It is a bigoted site of what Christians believe about Pagans and the Occult, it is neither fully factual or fully correct on any of it's opinions and essays. It seeks to place both Pagans and the Occult into a full negative situation for any reader of its information.

Encourage her freedom of religion rights, she does live in the United States right?

Hopefully she never had a Christmas tree in her home, that is a blend of christian and pagan belief right there. Oh and what about the priests twirling incense in the room. The addition of colorful stained glass in churches-to give the comfort of nature to the man-made worshiping structure.
Water that purifies...
The son/sun being born again...
Easter+rabbits+fertility+purple, that was a goddess depiction in ancient history.
Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Arbor Day...
If christians follow such celebrations, then they are following pagan rites still today.

Yes. Witchcraft isn't particular to any religion so can be used in any. One way to look at it from a Christian perspective is stylized and more focused prayer. It's really no different.
