Honestly, I have never watched the movie. But, my opinion is that if people were to watch it realistically, then it should not tarnish anyone. Cowboys are not exempt from anything like that. Homosexual's have been a part of every culture known to man. To think that one certain group has no homosexuals, would not be real. The Great Roman Legions, The Spartans, Napolean's Army (who were French by the way, what does that tell ya), even our own military. These guys were/are real fighting men, yet, they were not exempt from homosexuality. So no, it does not tarnish my image of Cowboy's because I knew they were there all along.

Do you think it did? I did just watch the movie at a friends house on Monday. I thought it was an incredible love story, realistically represented the vigilante law ignored in Montana, Wyoming, and the northern part of Idaho. Of course there are homosexual cowboys. Of course if they are open about it in the states above, they will be murdered. I just don't understand why homosexuality is such a strong threat to heteros.
What difference does it make? If anyone is a good person, what else is necessary. Homosexuals do not recruit. One is born homosexual. Three choices exist for a homosexual. One: Be open about it. Respectful social conduct and self respect enforces ones integrity. This includes living well.
Two: Hide it. Suppress the reality. Denial. Fear. Self loathing. Empowering the critics of a natural occurrence. Behavior endorsed by heterosexuals.
Three: Rebellion. Borderline and that which crosses the line. Defiance. Anger. Self destructive behavior. Rationalization, Projection,
Vengeful. Frustrated.

Now way!
Up until this movie my image of Cowboys involved humongous Stetsons and smelly nut sacks.
I thought the scene in the tent was incredible because it captured their inner conflict and their true desires with a raw honesty, and the rest of the movie was just as compelling because there wasn’t a Marlboro man in sight.

Well it certainly left a stigma on the macho image did it not?
Its no different than what the churches have had to deal with etc. getting their reputations marred...seems like everyone is out to tarnish everything in this world.

ranching,store owning,God fearing,wholesome,smooth

tarnish that.
