No just the opposite, I dont' enjoy being around troubled people though I do have empathy, I really don't want to hear bad news or probelms all the time, in order to stay happy, I like to be around other happy people, someone who laughs alot.

I think it depends on the person and their values. A real person usually will have compassion for another person who is unhappy. I have a person in my family (UNFORTUNATELY) that seems to love when others are sad and she is happy, almost like a power trip and when it comes down to the true character of that person, the truth is that they are an insecure, evil, self centered person and that is sad. So the answer to your question is that yes some people can better justify their happiness when others around them are not happy and THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT NEED TO STAY OUT OF YOUR LIFE. Look for the real friends, the friends that have compassion and love you and treat you good whether your life is wonderful or not!

I would think truly happy people want to see other people happy.

People who just "say" they're happy, probably like to see other people not happy, so it perks them up a little bit.

Happy?

Happiness is the opposite of sadness. No one can be happy all the time. When the happiness passes, then we perceive a "lack of happiness" which "IS" sadness. Those who are happy feel they have something that the sad ones do not. Really, their happiness will pass and others Will be perceived as more happy, which "IS" sadness.

Hmmm... not really. It seems to me that happy people tend to be blissfully oblivious to the unhappiness of other people, or just unable to comprehend it.
