There are these people who are called producers or movie investors. They give you money when they see or think that it is profitable enough for them. Bring it to a couple of producers. I'm sure they'd know what to do with it. Good luck! I hope it gets approved. :)

It's a challenge, they enlist friends and family, pitch the idea to anyone who will listen to get the start up money. After that, they try to line up a producer and put it all together.
There's an excellent book on the subject by Bruce Campbell called "If Chins Could Kill, Confessions of a B Movie Actor" talking about exactly how he went about getting money for "The Evil Dead" and other movies.

The producers of the movie to be made pitch it to investors. Sometimes its a movie company and if the movie company doesnt want to pay for it, then the producer goes to independent investors. Regarding your movie -- first thing you should do is get your idea on paper, and then mail it to yourself in a sealed envelope (that way, no one can steal your idea -- if they do, the judge will open your post-dated envelope and see that the idea was yours to begin with). Once that's done, put an outline together and send it to all of the production companies in LA -- the phone book lists tons of them. Good Luck.

Most independant films are made on a shoestring budget. Family and criends and others max out their credit cards. It is very risky, but there are a few examples of when this investment pays off.

Big movie studios have huge finaciers and other companies who raise the money.

Gtting involved in the film business is very difficult.

You need to start by taking classes on idea development.

Then learn how to write a treatment.

Then learn how to write a script.

Then you refin your idea for 10 years (or more)!

Then you need to know people.

For a low budget movie, your best bet is private investors. There are studios and producers but they are usually unwilling to pay out for someone's first shot. Unless it is an amazing script and you won't give up creative rights. Did you know that the original Terminator was mainly funded by dentists?!

INVESTORS! I dont care which way you go major studios or indies--someone has to like your idea and value it. That means they think it will be profitable (it will sell tickets) and are willing to front the money to develop the idea and actually make it into a movie, then wait for the return on their investments.

Sorry, if it was easy---it would not be worth doing.
