if i bought a different brand of struts than my strut mounts will they still fit together?

The struts and and strut plates are two entirely different parts. Always ask for new strut plates for your car if yours are damaged. When you borrow the strut coil spring compressor from Auto Zone you'll be removing your strut plates anyway. Rotate them in your hands to be sure the bearings are in good shape. If you feel resistance or any grating buy new TRW or Moog strut plates for the front. The rears do not have bearings. It's a large rubber cup with a steel backing plate.
You'll need the large strut washers in case to toss the spring and strut. Carefully inspect your coil springs for rust. You can buy TRW replacements at Advance Auto. They are the least expensive anywhere.

A strut mount is universal (within reason) , I mean if you switching out struts the mount will fit any brand , but if you changing over to coilovers or something then you will have to change it . what vehicle is this in regards too out of curiosity
