Basically this dude Bill O' Reilly is criticizing Virginia Tech President for allowing "a man who makes recordings as violent as they come" to perform at a welcome back concert for the kids at V. Tech, also they bring in some other people to talk about Nas...anyways, here's the link:

honestly, i wasnt even aware until i saw this video that Nas had a felony gun conviction..even with that being the case, the purpose of the concert is for the people at Virginia Tech, their families and friends to come together and enjoy themselves, have a good time, what better way then to have Nas perform songs like: i kno i can, if i ruled the world, cant forget about you, black republican, etc.

and the thing that kills me is they take what Nas' says out of context..for example, they took the lyrics from ether "started cockin up my weapon, slowly loading up this ammo" that wasnt a reference to a actual gun, his weapon was the song itself and the ammo was the disses he was about to throw at Jay-z.

PURE IGNORANCE. And they say blacks are ignorant. Bill O'Reilly is no different then the rest of the dumb people that come to YA to talk sh!t about rap and hip hop music everyday, when they know nothing about it. And as Fred said, they don't want to understand it. They will never give it a chance. It will always be negative to them. Many things that blacks create are looked at as negative when they are only a product of their environment that society created in the first place. And why were they saying his name like that? The reason they said his name like that is because they have never even heard of him before. If he was such a gangsta rapper, trust me they would have known about him. If they would have played the entire songs of all the samples that they gave, they would have heard the deeper message. Hip hop is very metaphoric and it was very unfair to just play those excerpts that portrayed violence in Nas's songs. I have never in my life heard of Nas being a Gangsta Rapper, and creating the most violent music. He is so far from that. Bill O'Reilly's opinions are an example of a very serious problem amongst society judging blacks before looking deeper into issues. Nas is for peace, that's why they've sold over 20,000 tickets for the concert.

I only watched a 1:47 minutes of it. It was getting me upset. Why didn't he display lyrics of songs such as "The World Is Yours" "One Mic" "If I Ruled The World"or "I Know I Can?" Instead he goes straight to the songs in which Nas is using terms such as killings? Does he really think Nas would rap songs like that, knowing what happened to those students? And I don't recall Nas ever being a "gangster" rapper. There are so much songs he could have chose but instead, he targeted the songs with the profanity.

Alot of people use profanity in their music, but in the case of Nas, it's not every song he talks about that. OReilly is such a d!ckhead. At least if he is gonna target someone, he should learn how to say the name correctly. LOL at NAZZZZZZ. Obviously, he doesn't like rap. Np. He has a right to target rap, but think he should target the rock and alternative music as well. Their lyrics are just as bad.

Remember the whole thing with Ludacris and Pepsi? Look how he criticize them for having Luda promoting their product, yet when he gets pulled out, look who they replaced them with? The Osbournes, who swore so much on their show, having a negative image, but yet no one said anything about the vulgar use of curse words, or what Ozzy Osbourne use to do when he performed back in the 70's? Ripping pigeon heads off, doing drugs, and it goes on.

ok
lets start by saying that you pronounce his name
N o z
not N a Z
with that in mind id like to point out that he is not a gangster rapper by any means.
when nas goes to this concert im sure his songs will be

i know i can
if i ruled the world
you know probably the first verse of 1 mic

but at the same time bill o'reilly has a point
to bring someone who has a gun conviction to perform at a memorial concert is really kind of questionable

do i believe that mr o reilly was generalizing based on 15 songs out of 8 albums
absolutley

both sides have valid points i believe this is a question of MORALality rather than

is this rapper appropriate because of a few choice lyrics

i believe that nas has only good intentions and that he will not insult the va tech community by playing songs like

made you look
or ether or
got yourself a....

so truthfully this is only a matter of opinion as are most morality questions

All Nas has to do is come in at the end, play Just A Moment with an appearance by Quan, have it be the best song of the entire concert, and leave.
As Ludacris (probably) once said,
"**** Bill O'Reilly."

Im sorry but I think this was set up, I think the reason why they brought up NAS to play at the concert was to blame the violence thats happening in this world on hip hop...hip hop is international and everyone knows this, and since hip hop has been the scapegoat for sooo many years for sooo many different problems, why not try to find some rapper, look up a line from one of his songs, and then ask him to perform at a welcome back concert for majority white kids (knowing that its majority white people, who does not understand this cultured music). Then say, "omg look at this lyric he wrote, he's an hip hop artists, we dont want him to perform now because we just realized hip hop is the problem with the violence in young kids today"....

The white conservative community and the (black) hip hop community weren't made to conflict with one yet another. They ensue to attain this on many social themes yet i think of that is extra a reason for incorrect information than something. Many blacks in usa (and Toronto,CAN the place i'm) have been ghettoized. They see the reason for this as being white conservative usa.......wipe them below a mat and enable them to kill one yet another off. that's no longer real. For years maximum city areas have been run by ability of non-conservative politicians who make judgements on public housing - they created the ghettos. Black community leaders additionally face grievance - they have ignored to handle the actual issues of their communities specifically the breakdown of the kin unit, very own accountability (loss of) and drug use. Gang violence is a symptom of those standard middle issues. i might desire to circulate on and on yet i'll shop that for the political communicate board. base line is i think of bill O'Reilly has a factor yet you are able to no longer tar and feather somebody for making one mistake of their toddlers and asserting they are actually not against gun violence. that's for the victims and seeing Nas there handing over valuable messages will help the healing technique.

Wow that was good. First of all why did they keep saying his name like that "Naz"? Even the dumb dude with the hip hop shirt said it. And I call him dumb because he did keep avoiding O'Reily's question. Maybe O'Reily is right though. I know Nas has good music and some that is about "healing", but the weapons conviction doesn't help out. Some people who aren't familiar with Nas may think hes living the lyrics, so he may not be appropriate for that event. I don't know though, I'm gonna keep my eye on this. Thanks for the link.

Why does Bill O'reilly have the right to say sh*t about anyone while he sexually harrasing his employees when he's married? That's what u call throwin stones in a glass house. Him and Oprah need to gon' ahead and bump uglies cuz they are 2 of the biggest hip hop haters. 1st he hated on Pepsi when Luda ws supposed to be their new spokesperson, but it was okay for Brittney Spears drug addicted, alchoic, bad parenting *** to promote Pepsi...That's why I'm glad Luda clowned him in the Number One spot song....And come on now Nas is a real good candidate for this event. "As violent as they come"...Please Mr. Oreilly you must have never heard an Eminem song where he talks about killin his wife and raping his moms...F*ck outta hear wit that sh*t!!!

In the interview he didn't even give the other guys to talk, on his show he just trys to talk over everyone so it seems he is right and when they start getting to a point he cuts them off. Nas is deep poetic rapper and o'reilly only picks out one song which depicts violence he says he can pick out 15, ok tell me which ones?.

Songs Nas should perform

*Just a Moment
*I Can
*Rule
*If I ruled the world
*Thugz Mansion

seriously?

"as violent as they come"????

one weapons conviction and everything else is meaningless?

oh mah gawd.

Bill O'Reily is a pasty little fat man.
What do you expect?

Nas = illmatic = orgasmic

i have to add tho.....Nas wouldn't have been my first choice to be at the Virginia Tech show. I mean, it's Virginia. How much are they truly capable of appreciating Nas?

He (Nas) deserves better.
