A successful offense is built around a talented QB without a doubt. There definitely have been exceptions to that rule, Trent Dilfer for one but then the D the Ravens had that year was a monster and the same would go with the Tampa Bay win with Brad Johnson. Overall though I would agree. A successful team, especially long term, especially with having multiple SB wins, starts with a talented QB.

Super Bowls are won as a team, not by one player. Brad Johnson and Dilfer are good examples.
The Redskins won 3 championships in 10 years with 3 different QBs, where only Theismann was above average but nothing great.
The 80s Giants are better remembered for their defense and not for Simms/Hostetler. Same the Bears, for their D and Walter Payton (who was their QB by the way?).
Looking at the last ones.
Broncos won when Elway finally had a good running game.
Rams won because Marshall Faulk was simply the best then. Faulk is a first ballot HOFer, Warner was a 3 year wonder.
Ravens had a powerful defense and a strong running game with primed Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes in the same team. Statistically it wasn't Holmes best season, but physically he was at his best. So the Ravens won despite him and not thanks to him.
Brady had plenty of help of the defense and special teams. All of them were won by exactly 3 points. With a kicker like Vinatieri, Jim Kelly's story would be completely different.
Tampa Bay, like Baltimore, won despite Brad Johnson and not thanks to him. 21 points were scored by the defense and 7 on the ground and 6 by Field Goals.
Big Ben had probably the worst performance at that time of his career throwing 2 interceptions and no TDs, Hines Ward had as many receiving yards as Big Ben had passing yards.
Peyton Manning was fine, but he didn't deserve to be the MVP. Not when Rhodes and Addai combined for 190 rushing yards and Addai had also 10 receptions and 66 receiving yards.
I'm not saying that the great QBs Elway, Brady and Manning didn't contribute to the victory. But with that defense, special teams and rushing attack there's no doubt that Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, would have retired with a ring.

Let's see, Manning, Brady, Elway. Hall of Fame, Hall of Fame, Hall of Fame. Warner was having hall of Fame type seasons when he won his championship, Johnson and Dilfer benefited from two of the best defense to ever play. I'd say the QB is the key, if you don't have a Hall of Fame caliber QB, you better have a lock down defense instead.

With the exception of Manning 2007, all those teams excelled First on Defense. The quarterbacks were good players who managed the game well and didn't make stupid mistakes.
To win in the NFL you need a good defense, a decent offense, and a QB who doesn't lose games... He doesn't need to win them.

Once a team develops strength in the trenches, the key to a Championship is "balance"..
A good offense has balance between the run and the pass.
And a good head coach balances his strength on offense with strength on defense, or vice versa..
Then, the better a team executes its philosophy, the better the aforementioned balance will serve it..

Have you ever heard the saying " defense wins championships"? Heck, Peyton Mannings horrible defense won him the big game, forcing five turnovers. I actually think the whole defense should been MVP instead of just Manning

In all sports great defense wins championships. Great offense may get you in a position to play for a championship but ultimatley it's the great defense that brings it home.
