If you introduce a lesson to students, it helps them to put things into perspective. Especially if a lesson covers more than one specific detail, knowing in advance the general concepts of a lesson will help them to put together the individual parts, or make connections between each thing they are being taught.

Make sure introductions are used that present tangible examples and generalizations of concepts that are to be taught.

Your pupils will be much more accepting of any activity you are going to do in class if they know it's coming. If you just spring things on them, it will confuse them.
Also, they are more likely to get the most out of the lesson if you tell them at the start what they are supposed to know by the end.
Clear aims and objectives really do make a huge difference.

It presents a map to the students - and family members and administators - on how you are going from one point to another with vital curriculum. It is your playbook for that section of material.
