I was a kid spending the night with my girlfriend for her birthday slumber party. We were in her bedroom on the floor playing slap jacks and the news of his death came on the radio. My girlfriend said "Great! He died on my birthday." It was awful! I was in love with Elvis. I use to think he was singing all those love songs directly to me! So sad he died at such a young age. He was already the King of Rock-n-Roll, imagine what he could have done if he had lived longer :-(

I was a teenager attending the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Moraine State Park Pennsylvania. It was a huge announcement and everyone (there were tens of thousands of kids there from all over the country and probably a thousand from around the world) all just got quiet. We could all sense that a history making event had just happened. It was very respectful, and I remember that that night, everyone gathered for a event-wide campfire and we had a moment of prayer for Elvis. It was huge - for is and the Adults. Everyone loved Elvis. Everyone knew every word to his songs, and still does. What a tragic loss to the entire world! How hard it must have been on his family at the time, yet comforting to know that he would never, ever be forgotten. I still like the fact that so many of his original songs have been picked up and done by others, keeping the music creation alive, but NO ONE has done his songs better than he!

I wasn't alive when he died, but I am a huge, huge Elvis fan. I asked my mom this question and she says that she was taking care of my brother when she heard the news. My brother was only 4 months old at the time. She was devestated. Now, out of everyone in our family, I take his death the hardest. When they talk about his death on TV or show video of the vigil or the funeral, I cry so hard. I just recently came back from Elvis Week and I never cried so much as I did that week. The candlelight vigil is actually the hardest on me because I literally breakdown when I see his grave with the mound of flowers and bears and other things. I feel as if it's a family member that I lost. A man that I never had the opportunity to meet, has had a tremendous amount of impact on my life that he feels like family to me. He will always be my #1.

I was 8 when he did, my father was a Beatles fan, so I was not sure who he was at first (can you believe that?!) anyway I was with a friend and his mother, we were in the car driving, she was like freaking out! I felt bad. 5 years ago I went to Graceland! It was so cool! But my younger sister had to point out that we where the youngest ones there - LOL!
Also 5 years ago one of my friends little girl heard on the radio that Elvis had died, she was only 6, she cried so hard! She had listened to Elvis at her friends house many times, she just had no idea that he had passed away many years ago - I thought that was a cute story.

I remember!!! My mom sold encyclopedias to earn extra $$$ and sometimes I went with her. I always sat in the car so I could listen to the radio while she worked. I was waiting for my mom to finish a demonstration when the news came over the radio that Elvis had died. I was heart broken.

The King died 30 years ago.
It's amazing isn't it ? I have video tapes of him and he
looks timeless ! My husband has 100's of his albums, that
we will always treasure, we also visited Graceland after his
death. It is very sad. One of my favorite videos of Elvis is
the 68' comeback special !
Believe it or not, my 19 yr old daughter started listening to his songs 2-3 yrs ago.
As I said he is timeless !

Yes I was walking down my street after visiting a friend and two of my neighbours were outside one of their houses crying.I asked if they were ok and they told me they had just heard about his death on the news.
I was, and still am, a big Elvis fan and I ran into the house and turned the radio and tv on to hear it myself because I was sure they were wrong, sadly it was true and I was devastated!

Yes. My (now ex-) husband and (now deceased) brother-in-law got in a fight. The b-i-l was drunk, and blubbering, and the husband (known as "stupid") decided to tell him how much more successful the Beatles were than Elvis.

My sister and I were never supposed to talk to each other again because drunk-and-blubbering and stupid had a row. At least according to the two of them. We told them both we never would get the two of them in the same room, but we were sisters and they'd have to deal with it.

howdy, do no longer you all endure in ideas L. Ron Hubbard. ok, his dying replaced into mystereous....then Pricilla Presley became a Scientologist after divorcing Elvis so she new L. Ron so she advised Elvis that L. might desire to help him stay jointly & sell off the finished Elvis Act. So El met with L & whilst L replaced into meant to be lifeless....he taught El a thank you to pretend his dying. Then Lisa Marie Presley chanced on the only guy in the international that had the comparable vibe going as her father. Michael J. that they had a lot in effortless yet human beings did no longer see it in the previous each and every little thing. MJ replaced into extra into the kin & he advised L.M to get out of his existence till he might desire to flee this existence. So he ran up debt then acted like he replaced into going to pay it off & then...He called L & EL & now they're all living fortunately ever after. Does this seem loopy? i do no longer think of so as that they might purchase something so why no longer....particular, i'm sufficiently previous to endure in ideas El's pretend dying. i replaced into pregnant with my son & he replaced into born close to El's birthday so i assumed he replaced into his reincarnation yet all of us understand that's no longer a threat considering El is alive. all of them have had plastic surgical operation. MJ is probable having an entire face transplant so next time you're in line on the food market pay attention to the voice of the guy in front of you. If he says Thankya very a lot that is probable Elvis. you recognize MJ's voice for particular.
