i think the poster is being sarcastic people, waken up. some people here want to accuse the Mcanns of everything form mass murder to starting the fire of london. so why should a poor abductor be punished since his crime, ie abducting and posibly killing a child, is nothing compared to what they think the mcanns did.
busy bee- is that the same police who are looking for blood n the room nearly 100 days AFTER she disappeared, and the ones who searched morats garden about a month after he was taken in for ??, or didn't think a 4 year old disappearing warranted searching till the next day- i have complete faith in their opinions, not!

In the same way that the "Pro" McCann's keep on at us so-called "Anti's" about backing up "our" theories with evidence, I will believe in an unknown abductor when there is evidence to prove he/she exists. IF such a person is found and proven to be the person behind Madeleine's abduction, then of course they should suffer the full penalty of the law, for such a horrendous act.

However, the fact does remain that, had she and her siblings not been left alone every night of the holiday, we would not be having these discussions, would we?

I could not care less what I am labelled, my concern has always been a little girl who should be safe, but isn't. God Bless Madeleine.

Ah, you've noticed that, too?

Some time ago, I read someone's comment that Madeleine was probably better off with whoever had taken her (I think the poster was assuming that Madeleine had been "stolen" for a childless couple or some such) rather than with her "neglectful" parents.

I've also seen the comment that the McCanns were 100% to blame for her disappearance which just ignores the possibility of an abductor at all.

The answer, of course, is that the person or persons responsible for Madeleine's disappearance should certainly be imprisoned (after apprehension and trial). Obviously (or it should be)

LD - Do you not think that Madeleine's parents contributed to their daughter going missing? Had they been taking care of all three of their children that night instead of leaving them alone to go out and have fun, she would still be with them.

Would you think differently if the parents had gone out and there had been a fire that killed all 3 children -would they be to blame then?

Any event that could have taken place be it abduction, fire, choking etc could have killed or harmed one of their children. The children's safety was placed at risk, KNOWINGLY night after night by the parents, they are to a certain extent. responsible for whatever happened to Madeline. It's like giving an arsonist matches!!

Call me an Anti if that's what you want, I am anti child neglect, all I care about is what that poor child has gone through as a result of her parents selfishness. Madeline is the innocent in all this, NOT the parents.

I think that you are missing the point. Obviously the abductor if there is one should be punished but that doesn't mean that leaving your children alone should be forgiven. If I took my child and prostituted them to a pedophile should only the pedophile be prosecuted? In some situations there is more than one guilty party and in this case I feel that more than one person is to blame.

Are you sure after he's been caught, why not before? Yes, they should let him go. We'll make sure to send him over to your house for tea along with the Easter bunny and Santa. You must feel like a real martyr, good for you asking such a clever question.

He will probably get 25p from the Court Poor Box. Personally I would have him/her strung up by the thumbs dumped in a celler and the key thrown away. Thanfully I will have no say in the matter

Good point, I am not pro or anti McCann but the real criminal is the person who took Madeleine

Don't be stupid. Just because some people think the parents should be prosecuted doesn't mean that they have got all the blame.
Jampetpaul, I suggest you get your facts right, the police looked for blood before that, they looked again after 100 days, the only reason why they found something was because the blood got there after her disapperance.

I blame the parents for neglecting their children on that night in question but of course the abductor if caught should face a hefty prison sentence.

There is extremists on both sides don't tarnish all with the same brush.
